José Ambrosio Moreno y Aguilar correspondence, 1841-1868.

Correspondence, dated 1841-1868, concerning José Ambrosio Moreno y Aguilar's political career and personal life and the activities of Moreno family members. The majority of the letters are from Moreno's parents and siblings. The correspondence also contains descriptions of wars and disturbances as experienced in Puebla and Veracruz in 1845, Querétaro in 1850, and Guanajuato in 1858. At the end of the correspondence are wax-sealed leaves bearing addresses, which originally served as envelopes but have been separated from the letters to which they were attached; the letters are not present in the collection.

Politician and magistrate. Born circa 1812 to Josef María Moreno (lawyer/magistrate) and Juana Aguilar de Moreno. Ambrosio Moreno was a teacher in Puebla from 1841 to 1842. During the years 1847-1852, he was a representative to the Congreso Geneeral of Mexico. Later he was a magistrate on the Supreme Court of Guanajuato (1853-1855) and on the Supreme Court of Querétaro (1856-1857?).
